Wishlisted: Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl by Carrie Brownstein

If you don’t know who Carrie Brownstein is, then I feel sorry for you. But I’m gonna help you out. She’s a member of Sleater-Kinney, one of the most badass feminist girl bands ever, and she is also a part of a comedy duo with Fred Armisen in the show Portlandia. If you haven’t yet watched Portlandia, then you need to add it to the top of your list. Here’s a clip to give you a taste:

However Portlandia will not be the focus of Brownstein’s memoir, set to come out October 27. Carrie Brownstein is a woman of many talents, and has accomplished quite a lot in the course of her career. She has been a busy woman, so she has lots of stuff that she can pull from to include in her book. I can’t wait to see how her memoir turns out.

The feminist punk movement is such an interesting set of events – if you’re even the slightest bit curious, I definitely recommend googling relevant phrases to learn more. [cough]Kathleen Hanna[cough]

Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl is now available for preorder at this link.
