My name is Shannon, and I’m currently located in Brooklyn.
The first book that I can remember falling in love with was Matilda by Roald Dahl. It was the first chapter book I ever read independently, and I felt an immediate connection with Matilda.
I started this blog because I realized how much I value discussions about books. In grade school, my classes were shuffled to the library every once in a while to hear the librarian’s book talks. I always went away from them with additions to my reading list. The Fault in Our Blogs is my attempt to bring that same spark of interest to as many people as I can, and spread the word about good books that deserve to be read.
I have been lucky enough to attend a handful of events that featured panels with top-selling Young Adult authors, and hearing them talk about their work has inspired me to pursue a future in the YA publishing world.
One of my favorite places in the world is BookPeople, a huge independent bookstore in Austin. The first time I saw their incredible stock of YA books, I cried. Other contenders: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Strand Bookstore.
What are some of my favorite books, you ask? White Teeth by Zadie Smith, The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker, Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld, Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, and Geek Love by Katherine Dunn.
